Environmentalists are vowing to fight potential Trump EPA efforts to weaken Obama-era pesticide rules in response to calls from industry groups, some states and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) for the agency to soften the regulations as part of EPA's efforts to comply with President Donald Trump's regulatory reform executive order (EO). At a recent EPA Office of Pesticide Programs regulatory reform meeting, several speakers from environmental groups said that the agency lacks statutory authority for many of the rule revisions that Obama EPA critics want the Trump agency to adopt - suggesting an argument they could make in potential litigation over any weakening of existing rules.
