Judge Vacates Trump-Era CWA Water Quality Review Rule Limiting States

A federal district court judge in northern California has vacated and remanded to EPA a Trump-era Clean Water Act (CWA) rule limiting the scope of states' water quality certification reviews of federally permitted activities, handing a victory to states who had challenged it. "While Trump was in office, his administration did everything it could to yield to the interests of polluting industries," Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson (D) said in a statement on the ruling. He added that the decision "stopped one of his most egregious attempts to strip states' ability to protect their communities against threats to water quality."
