Eureka Prizes celebrate science and engineering

The Eureka Prizes, which aim to raise the profile of engineering and science in the community by rewarding outstanding achievements in Australia, were held in Sydney last month. The $10,000 Engineers Australia Eureka Prize for Engineering Journalism is awarded to an Australian journalist or communicator whose work is assessed as having most effectively and accurately communicated both engineering issues and the value of the work of engineers in a social and economic context. This award was presented to David Salt for his researching, writing, and designing Materials Monthly, a newsletter produced for the ANU Centre for Science and Engineering of Materials.
