Having recently returned to the Careers Centre, I thought my first article should address some of the commonly asked questions received in 2004. There are many ways to prepare a resume. My experience (in HR, as a recruitment consultant and working with engineering recruiters) has shown that, while there may not be one best way, there are definitely items it's best to include such as contact details, tertiary education and responsibilites and achievements from your working experience. There are also items that are not relevant, such as age and your marital status. You also need to have a common layout and you should use an easy-to-read font (preferably in 12 point).
