Wing Commander Mark Masini had a range of aerospace engineering jobs in the RAAF, culminating in a three-year exchange with the US Air Force (USAF). He joined the RAAF through the Undergraduate Scheme 14 years ago while in the fourth year of his Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical) at the University of Melbourne. When he completed his BEng he was promoted to flying officer and was posted to the F-111C strike aircraft. "Those initial years included officer training, RAAF engineering courses and F-111 specific courses. I was taught command, leadership, military law and administration, the edge that air power provides, and the systems of one of the most potent strike aircraft of the 20th century," he said. After that he was posted to the F-111G aircraft purchase project.
