Transport corridor near Ipswich

Piling and excavation works are progressing on the Darra to Springfield Transport Corridor near Ipswich. The project is a joint road and rail line being delivered by the Horizon Alliance, a collaboration between Queensland Rail (QR), the Department of Main Roads, John Holland, GHD and Kellogg Brown & Root. QR and Main Roads will become the owners of the completed project. The project will duplicate the existing Centenary Highway, creating dual lanes in both directions with room for an extra two lanes. The state government has contributed $800 million for this stage which is scheduled to be completed by 2011. The design and construction of the Springfield Link bridge, which will provide safe access across the Centenary Highway for pedestrians and cyclists, is due for completion late this year.
