Chair of engineering innovation at Warren Centre

The Warren Centre for Advanced Engineering at the University of Sydney is collecting donations to fund its new Chair of Engineering Innovation. According to Warren Centre founder Peter North, the chair will establish a new department of postgraduate teaching and research in engineering leadership. It will offer masters courses to the best engineering graduates in various disciplines from around the country, many of whom would already have experience in the industry. The annual intake will be limited to 10 to 15 students, North said. Students will learn how to analyse markets, how to gain an understanding of other fields of expertise and how to lead an engineering team. The program will also cover contracts and intellectual property. In addition to classroom learning, students will carry out field work in a company and write a thesis that would benefit the company's industrial innovation or R&D program.
