Defence engineering expansion

Raytheon Australia opened an Engineering Centre of Excellence in Sydney last month. The facility is home to 160 of the company's employees, two thirds of whom are engineers working on Australian defence projects. The centre will conduct systems engineering and systems integration for the company's naval, aerospace and land business. It is also the Sydney node for the Air Warfare Destroyer Systems Centre and is linked to the Adelaide AWD Systems Centre hub. The centre was opened by Greg Combet, the federal parliamentary secretary for defence procurement.
