摘要

I wish to raise some concerns I have regarding Engineers Australia's approach to politics and, in particular at this time, global warming and carbon trading. First of ail I would like to express my satisfaction that Engineers Australia has at last a female president who obviously is making a positive impact on encouraging women to take up engineering as a career. On Monday 28 April Julie Hammer featured in an excellent article in the Australian Financial Review. In the article she is quoted as saying: "We found there is a strong view that Engineers Australia as a professional body, and engineers as individuals, have a responsibility to advocate on issues of public policy."
