Greg Combet comes from a wine making family, growing up at Penfold's Minchinburyrncellars in the western suburbs of Sydney.rnIn early 2009, he was appointed the parliamentary secretary for climate change and in mid-2009 minister for defence personnel, materiel and science, and minister assisting the minister for climate change.rnThe federal government extended the latter role to include energy efficiency earlier this year, giving Combet direct responsibility for closing the home insulation program and implementing the new renewable energy bonus scheme.rnIn his address last March to the Centre for Defence and Strategic Studies, Aus-tralian Defence Force, Combet said a number of current defence procurements and future projects relied on a good relationship with the US. Earlier this year, he met with key officials within the government in Washington DC.
