Nuclear future from the sun

I wish to respond to President Merv Lindsay's July message. I too believe Australia's energy future is a nuclear one - but mine rises in the east each morning and sets in the west each evening. It drives our winds, waves, tides, rivers and dams (via the water cycle) and directly and indirectly generates heat and electricity. I disagree with Merv's state ment that it has yet to be demonstrated that renewable technologies can meet demand or provide base load power.
