Twenty years of RedR Australia

RedR Australia has celebrated 20 years of operations with a reunion event in October bringing together those instrumental in the creation of the organisation, those who have undertaken field deployments, as well as board members and staff past and present. Held at Dookie, Victoria, the reunion event ran under the theme "RedR Australia - Yesterday, today and tomorrow". It was in 1979 that UK civil engineer Peter Guthrie recognised that engineers had an important role to play in reducing the human suffering in emergencies but front-line agencies faced difficulties in identifying and recruiting such staff.
