The rise of geothermal engineering

In an effort to raise awareness and skills in an important field of sustainable engineering, the University of Melbourne has recently held two new courses on geothermal engineering. An accredited installer workshop and a certified geoexchange designer course on geothermal heating and cooling were conducted with the help of the University of Melbourne's Prof Ian Johnston. Geoexchange is geothermal heating and cooling, and goes by a number of names such as direct or shallow geothermal energy, ground energy and energy from ground source heat pumps.
