New centre aims to improve project delivery

Successful delivery of large scale and complex projects is more important than it has ever been. A 2012 report Pipeline or Pipe Dream by the Business Council of Australia estimated that there are some 160 projects valued at $1 billion or greater and proclaimed that successful delivery of these projects is likely to shape Australia's economic prosperity over the next decade and beyond. Projects such as Gorgon's natural gas facility and the National Broadband Network readily come to mind. However, large projects are not restricted to mining and infrastructure, they also span areas such as defence, energy, government, technology and manufacturing.
