Boom time for ammonium nitrate in the west

After almost two years of construction, CSBP's $550 million Ammonium Nitrate Expansion Project (AN3) at Kwinana in Western Australia is completed, increasing production output from 520,000t/a to 780,000t/a. The plant, which is currently being commissioned, will ensure the WA mining sector will continue to have a competitive source of low cost, locally manufactured, explosive grade ammonium nitrate (EGAN). CSBP is a subsidiary of Wesfarmers Limited and part of the Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers division. Through the chemicals arm of the business, CSBP manufactures and supplies ammonia and ammonium nitrate (AN) to the WA resource and industrial sectors.
