NT mulls registering engineers

The Northern Territory government is testing the waters for proposed compulsory registration of engineers and has released a survey on the controversial topic. "The Territory is poised to benefit greatly from future developments both offshore and onshore and as such compulsory registration may reduce instances of fraudulent behaviour, ensure appropriate professionals standards and protect consumers," the NT Department of Infrastructure stated. If legislation is eventually introduced, it would be similar to that currently enacted in Queensland.
