Sometimes all it takes to find a creative solution to a problem is to keep your eyes open to the possibilities and your ears open to what people say. That's what the San Juan Unified School district outside Sacramento did when it came to dealing with its aging inventory of portable classrooms. Inside many of them is a good steel frame, so the district is stripping them and refitting them with better floors and walls and lighting and windows, making them permanent and saving thousands of dollars per unit in the process.
