Many of the 900-plus attendees at the Eighth World Congress of the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, held in Dubai March 3-5, couldn't help but see the irony in holding a conference on "Tall & Green: Typology for a Sustainable Urban Future" in just about the most unsustainable environment on the planet-the desert, where summer temperatures reach 120°F (see p. 10).
