Bridge Solution Serves Users Faster

Accelerated bridge construction (ABC) techniques are gaining ground in transportation departments across the nation because they deliver quality in a shorter amount of time. Prefabricated and precast elements, tested and proven through private industry projects, are now finding their place in bridge design to speed construction. Another ABC option is to build a bridge on the roadside, then use self-propelled modular transporters to lift the structure and drive it onto abutments. We used this technique on Utah Dept. of Transportation's 4500 South bridge replacement project in Salt Lake City. Post-project surveys confirmed that 95% of the traveling public was "satisfied" or "very satisfied" with how the project went.
