Construction and building cost indexes for Philadelphia have increased at a slightly faster pace than the national average indexes. In April, both that city's CCI and BCI were up 2.1 % for the year compared to annual increases of 1.7% and 1.2% for the national CCI and BCI, respectively. The lumber component of Philadelphia's indexes is down only 1.3% from a year ago, compared to a 5.8% decline nationwide. Likewise, cement prices are up 3% in the city, compared to a 1.4% gain for the 20-city average.
