Well before construction began on the $57-million, 230,000-sq-ft Turner Construction Co. project, the team working on the Cobb County Superior Court building in Marietta, Ga. believed it could digitally redefine the submittal process. Winston Williams, project manager with Turner Construction Company, explains, "Our goal was to cut project costs, and also create an example of how project communication should be-faster, more affordable and greener." As part of the design-build contract, Turner recommended digitally redlining all submittals using Bluebeam PDF Revu markup, editing and creation software. Only one hard copy per submittal was permitted. The project architect and subcontractors quickly agreed. Rather than printing and shipping submittals, the team digitally shared, redlined and distributed drawings and documents.
