San Francisco Bay Area to Benefit from Massive Water System Improvements

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) surpassed the peak of construction this summer for its $4.6-billion Water System Improvement Program (WSIP) of the Hetch Hetchy Regional Water System that serves 2.6 million residential and business customers in the San Francisco Bay Area. To date, the WSIP has completed 58 of 81 projects to repair, replace and seismically retrofit the system's deteriorating pipelines, tunnels, reservoirs, pump stations, storage tanks and dams.
