Proactive Measures that Extend the Life of Existing Bridge Infrastructure with Limited Fiscal Resources

Slightly less than 24% of the nation's bridges are structurally deficient or functionally obsolete. It's imperative that we, as an industry, strive to find ways to keep the remaining 76%, or 463,000 bridges, from joining that category while we work to repair or replace the ones in poor or serious condition.It's well documented that proactive bridge inspection and preventive maintenance can preserve and significantly extend the life of existing infrastructure.
