A Solution to Broken Water Pipes

Southern California, a problem was discovered in 2006: broken water pipes. Because of over-insertion of PVC pipe joints, multiple breakages appeared in the one million ft of PVC water pipe in the district, which covers 125 sq miles with distribution of potable, waste and recycled water. To address this problem, EBAA Iron Inc. devised a new PVC-pipe installation aid. It was found at the Otay Water District, as elsewhere, that over-insertion was a common problem even when each end was carefully inserted because further joint assembly along the pipeline could affect previously assembled joints.
