All-Terrain and Tower Cranes Provide Needed Lift to University Construction

Central Contractors Service of Chicago, a member of the ALL Erection & Crane Rental Corp. Family of Companies, was hired to supply the lift equipment for all of the concrete work at Midwestern University's new 4,000-seat auditorium at its Downers Grove, Ill., campus. Central's 300-ton Liebherr LTM1200-6.1 hydraulic all-terrain crane, with 119 ft of main boom and 214,900 lb of counterweight, lifted precast sections weighing 70,000 lb each at a radius of 75 ft. A Terex/Peiner SK575 hammerhead tower crane, configured with a 180-ft jib and eight TS213 tower sections, helped pour all of the concrete for the structure.
