California 6/25 The City of Bakersfield is seeking bidders to carry out the state Route 178 widening project. The project team will widen the freeway to two lanes and one auxiliary lane between Fairfax Road and Morning Drive and to two lanes from Morning Drive to Canteria Drive. Further, Morning Drive will be widened to three lanes in each direction, from just north of Panorama Drive to just south of SR 178. Finally, state Route 58 will be widened to six lanes from four, from 0.5 miles east of the Route 99 grade separation to the Cotton-wood Road overpass.
