The average prices for liquid paving asphalt increased 0.1 % for the second consecutive month, but the modest increases could not hold up year-to-year price comparisons. ENR's 20-city average price for PG-58 paving asphalt at the start of April was up 6.3% from a year ago, compared to an 8.0% year-to-year increase during the previous month. The Bureau of Labor Statistics' producer price index for asphalt-paving mixtures in February was up just 1.1% for the year, down from an annual escalation rate of 4.2% at the end of last year. The PPI for diesel fuel in February was up 3.8% for the year, according to BLS.
