Most Areas in Sector Are Showing Growth

Sustained post-recession momentum across the U.S. manufacturing sector has contractors feeling cautiously optimistic about the market's immediate and long-term prospects. Manufacturing indices tracked by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) grew for the 15th consecutive month in August 2014, with the main Purchasing Managers Index reaching 59, the highest level since March 2011. Of the 18 manufacturing industries tracked by ISM, only textile mills failed to show growth.
