Groundbreaking New Manitowoc MLC300 Crawler

All Erection & Crane Rental Corp. has purchased 10 of the new 330-USt Manitowoc MLC300 crawler crane, which features the exclusive Variable Position Counterweight (VPC) system. The MLC300 made its debut at CONEXPO-CON/AGG in March. Typical crawlers are heel heavy during assembly and while no load is on the hook. During lifts, the high ground-bearing pressure typically transfers to the crawler toe-and there's usually no way to avoid the shifting high ground pressures. However, the MLC300 is not a traditional crane. With the VPC system, the crane counterweight is centered between the fully retracted and fully extended positions, automatically balancing the crane's center of gravity.
