Southern California-based USS Cal Builders, Inc. believes technology should create communication bridges, not boundaries-though, until recently, achieving that objective proved to be a challenge. With an eye on technology advancements, the general contracting/ construction management firm strived to improve its reporting and payroll workflow, only to realize that it had outgrown its accounting system and needed a broader solution. Monica Plata, accounting manager at USS Cal Builders, confirms, "Only the accounting staff was able to use our previous system because it offered limited functionality on the project management side. So only accountants had access to our information and were often hunted down for answers, data, documents and so on."
