Large-Diameter Rehab for Deep Sewer Tunnel in Houston

Constructed in the mid-1980s, the Northside Sewer ReliefTunnel (NSRT) was Houston's largest deep sewer tunnel, and it was installed with a mechanically attached liner. In the early 1990s, sections of the liner began to fail, leading to overflows. The liner was removed, and in 1994, an inspection uncovered that more than half of the tunnel showed signs of corrosion.
