The pandemic has held a spotlight on healthcare in the U.S.-the good, the bad and the need for change. Infection control enhancements are a current area of interest for healthcare facilities. "There is a growing interest in air-handling systems that incorporate new technologies such as UV filtration for operating rooms; low-touch and no-touch controls, such as a no-touch elevator control; and the wider utilization of antimicrobial surfaces," says Fulco. Technology's role is also increasing as mobile device arrival notification and "self check-in" is improving infection control through the reduction in risk of cross-contamination.
