Lane Construction Corp.'s negligence lawsuit seeking $132 million in damages from its Interstate 4 rebuild project joint-venture partner, Skanska USA Civil Southeast, will continue after a U.S. district court judge rejected the defendant contractor's motion to dismiss. The Lane suit centers around Skanska's role as a partner in the 1-4 Mobility Partners (I4MP) concessionaire team. The complaint by Lane-a member of the Skanska-Granite-Lane joint venture leading the 1-4 Ultimate project-alleged that it would experience a "loss of significant magnitude" due to design issues that added 245 days of owner-caused delays to the project. The delay also triggered the ability of JV members to compel I4MP to terminate the concession agreement, which Lane requested in 2018.
