DOL Nominee: Few Signals Yet On Major Construction Issues

President Donald Trump's pick to head the Dept. of Labor, longtime management-side labor attorney Eugene Scalia, has moved a step closer to confirmation. The Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee approved his nomination on Sept. 24 by a 12-11 vote that split along party lines. If the full Senate confirms Scalia, it remains to be seen where he will stand on important construction issues. During his confirmation hearing before the committee Sept. 19, the nominee, a son of the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, didn't commit to specific actions he would take on construction topics.
