When completed, the $803-million U.S. 181 Harbor Bridge replacement will be one of the longest cable-stay bridges in the country, with a main span of 1,661 ft. Designed and constructed by Flatiron and Dragados in a joint venture, the new bridge accommodates larger ships and, unlike the current bridge, will provide enough clearance for select ocean-bound ships traveling to and from Corpus Christi Bay and the Port of Corpus Christi from the Gulf of Mexico.
