ARKANSAS Sun Bio Material, a subsidiary of Shandong Sun Paper, is planning to construct a pulp mill in Arkadelphia. The mill will produce 600,000 tons annually of dissolving pulp, an ingredient in rayon. The project will use "liquid waste" from the production of dissolving pulp as raw material and apply biological fermentation or chemical transformation to produce ethanol and lactic acid. The heat generated by the process will produce 123 MW of electricity, 80 MW of which will be sold back into the grid, with the remainder used by the mill.
