The dollar value of total construction put-in-place showed a seasonally adjusted monthly escalation rate of 1.8% in Aprilfollowing a rate of-1.7% in March, according to the U.S. Dept. of Commerce's seasonally adjusted data. On a year-to-date basis, total construction in April was 7.6% higher than this time last year. The private sector also saw a 7.6% increase from a year ago, while public work had a 7.7% boost, seasonally adjusted. Both sectors experienced increases in the residential market.
