FAA Bill Has New Discretionary Airport Grants

Congress, at ENR press time, was on the verge of approving a measure to continue Federal Aviation Administration programs for five years, including a new discretionary infrastructure grant program for small and large airports and an initial $1.7 billion to help southeastern states recover from Hurricane Florence. But airport groups strongly criticized the bill's funding freeze on FAA's other, long-established construction grant program. Moreover, even that money and the new discretionary grants would require annual appropriations.
