Strategies analysis of a competitive take-back scheme for WEEE recycling

We study a competitive take-back model for electrical and electronic equipment waste (WEEE) recycling in which a recycler and a (re)manufacturer take-back WEEE directly from the customers and the recycler transfers her collection to the (re)manufacturer who retreat or remanufactures WEEE. Considering the treatment cost and the government subsidy to the (re)manufacturer, we derive the optimal recycling price, the recycling amount for the recycler and the (re)manufacturer to maximize the profits in cooperation and non-cooperation decision. Numerical study is performed to capture the essential nature of competition both the recycler and the (re)manufacturer. We found that recycling cost, re-manufactured cost, the re-manufactured rate, the intensity of competition, the sensitive coefficient of price and government policies will affect the optimal decision strategies of both parties.
