Analysis on depositional system of bauxite in Northern Guizhou

摘要

Through field investigation, hand specimen and slices observation, and analysis of the thickness of orebody and producing formation, this study focuses on bauxite depositional systems in Wuchuan-Zheng, an-Daozhen (short for WZD) area of northern Guizhou, China. The results show that the north boundary of bauxite sedimentary basin is Wulong, the northwest boundary is Nanchuan, the east boundary is Suihe, and the south boundary is Suiyang-Fenggang area. In addition, sedimentary facies could be divided into two parts, the bay center and the shoreland, with bauxite zone located within the range of the latter. The depositional systems could determine the thickness of producing formation, but don't directly control the formation of bauxite with good quality. Only when other ore-forming conditions are favorable, could the depositional system indirectly control the formation of bauxite with good quality via directly controlling the depositional environment of bauxite.
