This paper aims to discuss the use of the Coats-Redfern equation to determine the kinetic parameters of pyrolysis processes of long flame coal by Lin et al. (2014). The original paper has presented the incorrect Coats-Redfern kinetic model to compute the activation energy and the frequency factor. However, this discussion gives the correct Coats-Redfern equation with some clarifications and elucidations. (C) 2016 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
