2011 OCT 26 - (VerticalNews.com) -- According to the authors of a study fromrnShaanxi, People's Republic of China, "Tensile test was used upon a 3D-C/SiC composite underrnair or nitrogen atmosphere to characterize its mechanical behaviors and associated damagernevolutions from room to cryogenic temperatures. The tensile strength relatively weakened mostrnat 40 degrees C, however, that is recovered as temperature decreasing to 100 degrees C. Thernmismatch of coefficient of thermal expansions between carbon fiber and SiC matrix plays a rolernin this mechanical response."
