2011 JUL 13 - (VerticalNews.com) -- "The existing Thermal Cracking Modelrn(TCMODEL) that is currently an integral part of the Mechanistic Empirical Pavement DesignrnGuide (MEPDG) has been shown to adequately predict low temperature cracking of asphaltrnconcrete mixtures utilizing conventional binders. However, test results from several asphaltrnrubber mixtures in this research study showed that the TCMODEL in the MEPDG falls short inrnpredicting the observed thermal cracking resistance of these mixtures in the field," scientistsrnwriting in the journal Road Materials and Pavement Design report.
