Manitoba Hydro has started the first of four rounds of community and public consultation for the proposed Bipole III high-voltage, direct-current (HVDC) transmission project.rnTwo teams of Manitoba Hydro representatives are conducting the sessions, including meetings with elected officials and leaders of communities that could be affected by construction of the project as well as public open houses. The Crown-owned utility will meet with about 150 communities and organizations as part of this process.rnBipolelHis amajorHVDC transmission project required to improve the reliability of the existing transmission system. It will also provide additional transmission capacity to get new northern hydroelectric generation to southern markets.
