The protests that began on May 28 2013 have received scant coveragenfrom radio and TV broadcasters in Turkey, forcing demonstratorsnto take to the internet to broadcast events to the world. This hasnled to fears the government may resort to a crackdown on internetnconnectivity, targeting social media sites, throttling speeds or evennshutting it down entirely. The government has done little to assuagenthese concerns, with inflammatory language levelled at protestorsnand social media sites alike. BMI analyses the possibility of a disconnection,nbut believes it is highly unlikely the government willnresort to this scenario.
