In China, intensifying environmental challenges have made energy conservation and environmental protection key concerns in both manufacturing and everyday life. At the World Elevator & Escalator Expo '08 in Langfang City in Hebei Province, elevator manufacturers from around the world exhibited competing models of "green" elevators designed to meet the needs of the age (ELEVATOR WORLD, August 2008). Mitsubishi Electric garnered much attention with its energy-saving technologies for elevators.
