25 years and still going strong, The Young Woman Engineer of the Year competition continues to challenge the perceptions of the engineering and technology community as it announces the six finalists for 2002. With young women continuing to prove themselves to be as ambitious, creative and as highly skilled as any man, the Award has become the definitive date in the diary of all young women engineers. Sponsored by The Institution of Incorporated Engineers (IIE) the Caroline Haslett Memorial Trust and supported by BT, the Award ceremony took place on 29 October 2002 at the ultra modem BT Centre, London. The ceremony was hosted by IIE with the prestigious Award presented by Education Secretary Estelle Morris. With this year's finalists coming from a wide variety of backgrounds, from an ICA Technician to a Flight Systems Engineer, competition for the prestigious award is tougher than ever.
