As researchers rush to develop commercial versions of printable batteries with structured organic semiconductors on paper-thin, flexible substrates, a German team claims to be on track for a 2010 product launch. Scientists at the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Electronic Nano Systems collaborated on this project with colleagues at Chemnitz University of Technology and Menippos GmbH (Chemnitz, Germany). They arerntargeting applications such as smart credit cards with battery-powered displays that can display the card balance and other account information.
