摘要

Recently, the demand for higher density digital re- cording has been increasing steadily. In this article, focus- ing on digital magnetic recording devices, such as magnetic disks and digital VTRs, a signal processing technique for achieving higher densities is described. First, the partial response system, Viterbi decoding method, and partial re- sponse maximum likelihood (PRML) system are described in detail. Next, various signal processing methods exten- sively studied in recent years for longitudinal magnetic recording are described.
