0402-sized MLCC doubles capacitance

The AMK105BJ is presented as the first 0402-sized MLCC to achieve a 4.7-μF rating, thanks to improvements in materials and fabrication processes leading to the development of 30% thinner dielectric layers. The improvements allow designers to use a single device rather than two 2.2-μF 0402 capacitors—or larger 0603-sized components—in decoupling power-line circuits in high-performance ICs found in cell phones, digital still cameras, and other battery-powered portable electronics.
